Purchase Orders & Receiving rebuilds the purchasing workflow Shopify merchants lost when Stocky shut down: raise a purchase order against a supplier, receive it across several deliveries, and reconcile what arrived against what was ordered.
It is an embedded Shopify admin app with its own purchase order data model, because the Admin API still exposes no purchase order object to build on. Supplier records, landed cost and partial receiving live in the app, and inventory and unit cost are written back to Shopify.
What It Does
Native Shopify purchasing covers the simple case. This app is aimed at the retail and multi-location merchants whose day was built around Stocky: ordering from suppliers on lead time, receiving in parts, and knowing the real cost of what landed.
Purchase Orders
Raise a purchase order against a supplier with unit costs, taxes, freight and an expected delivery date, then send it as a PDF or by email.
Partial Receiving
Receive against a purchase order over multiple deliveries. Short shipments and over shipments are recorded, and the order stays open until it reconciles.
Landed Cost
Spread freight, duty and handling across the lines on a delivery so the unit cost written back to Shopify reflects what the stock actually cost.
Planned for the First Release
Supplier Records
Contact details, currency, payment terms and lead time per supplier, kept separate from the vendor field on products.
Cost and Margin at Receiving
Retail price and margin shown on the receiving screen, which merchants have repeatedly raised as missing from native purchase orders.
Multi-Location
Purchase orders raised per location, with transfers between locations handled separately from supplier orders.
Stocky CSV Import
Bring historical purchase orders, supplier lists and cost data across from a Stocky export.
Barcode Receiving
Scan items in on delivery instead of ticking lines by hand, on desktop or a handheld scanner.
Reconciliation View
What was ordered, what arrived, what is still outstanding and what it cost, on one screen per purchase order.
Planned After Launch
These are on the roadmap rather than in the first release. They are listed here so the scope is clear before anyone commits.
- Reorder suggestions from sales velocity and supplier lead time
- Demand forecasting and dead stock reporting
- Supplier performance: promised against actual delivery dates
- User roles, so receiving staff cannot change costs or approve orders
Who It Is For
Retail-led Shopify stores, particularly Shopify POS merchants running two to twenty locations with a few hundred to a few thousand SKUs. The workflow it targets is buying stock from suppliers on lead time, not dropshipping or print on demand.
- Stores that used Stocky and have not settled on a replacement
- Merchants who receive one purchase order across several deliveries
- Multi-location retailers who order per store
- Anyone whose landed cost is currently maintained in a spreadsheet
