AI Voice Agent for Law Firms
A first call to a solicitor is often someone anxious, working from a letter with a deadline on it. Missing that call usually means losing the matter to the next firm on the list. An AI voice agent answers, identifies the type of enquiry, captures what a fee earner needs to assess it, and routes qualified callers to the right team. It does not give legal advice.

What the AI Agent Handles on a Law Firm Call
Enquiry identification
Works out the area of law from how the caller describes it and routes to the team that handles it.
Structured intake
Captures names, dates, deadlines and a plain description of the issue, in the same shape every time.
Deadline flagging
Picks up on dates on letters and court documents and flags time sensitive enquiries for immediate attention.
Existing client calls
Separates new enquiries from clients chasing a live matter and routes each appropriately.
Evening and weekend enquiries
Answers when people actually read their post and worry about it, so nothing waits on a voicemail box.
Careful boundaries
No advice, no view on the merits, and no promises about outcomes. Anything sensitive goes to a person.
What a Call Actually Sounds Like
These are written call flows, not recordings of somebody else’s business. We build and demo them on your own services, prices and awkward questions.
Employment enquiry after hours
Caller: I got a letter today about a tribunal date.
AI agent: The office is closed until nine, but I can take the details now so the employment team has them first thing. Is this an employment matter?
Caller: Yes, unfair dismissal.
AI agent: Understood. Can I take your name, a number, and the date on the letter? I will not ask you for anything you would rather say to a solicitor.
In the background: an enquiry record is created with the matter type and deadline, flagged as time sensitive and sent to the duty solicitor.
A question the agent declines
Caller: Do you think I have a good case?
AI agent: That is a judgement only a solicitor can make, and I am not going to guess at it. What I can do is get your details to the right team today so someone qualified can tell you properly.
In the background: the enquiry is logged and routed without the agent expressing any view on the merits.
What It Connects To
An agent that only talks moves the work to whoever reads the transcript. The value is in what the call changes in the systems you already run.
Case and CRM systems
Enquiries created with matter type, deadline and contact details where your system exposes an API.
Fee earner diaries
Initial consultations booked against real availability.
Existing phone system
Added to your current numbers and extensions through SIP, FreePBX or Asterisk.
Controlled records
Recording and transcript retention are configurable, including off, to fit your confidentiality requirements.
The telephony side is our own work rather than something we leave to you: see FreePBX integration, SIP trunking and API integration. Where a system you use has no usable API, or an off the shelf tool would do the job cheaper than a build, we will tell you that before you spend anything.
Calls Coming In, and Calls You Should Be Making
Inbound
The calls arriving now, including the ones that currently ring out.
- New enquiry intake and matter type identification
- Routing to the correct department
- Existing client calls on live matters
- Initial consultation bookings
- Out of hours and weekend enquiries
Outbound
The calls that get made when somebody finds the time, which is rarely.
- Calling web enquiries back the same day
- Confirming consultation appointments
- Chasing outstanding documents
- Reminding clients of upcoming dates
- Returning missed calls
On outbound. Automated calling is regulated, and the rules differ by country and by call type. Consent, calling hours, do not call registers and disclosure that the caller is speaking to an automated system all apply in most places. We build campaigns to the rules that apply to you, and the lawful basis for calling remains yours.
AI Voice Agent for Law Firms: Common Questions
Will it give legal advice?
No. The agent is built to gather and route, not to advise. It captures the type of matter, the facts the caller volunteers and any deadline, then puts them to the right team. If asked for a view on the merits it declines and explains that a solicitor will answer. That boundary is written into its rules, not left to chance.
What about conflicts of interest?
The agent can capture the names of the other parties at intake so your conflict check runs on complete information. It does not run the check or make the decision. That stays with your process, and the information simply arrives sooner and in a consistent format.
Is it confidential enough for legal work?
Recording and transcripts are configurable and can be switched off entirely. Access is scoped per integration and credentials are held server side. We do not claim compliance certifications on a web page: if your professional obligations require a specific standard, ask and we will tell you plainly what we can evidence.
Can it tell a new enquiry from an existing client?
Yes, usually on the number or a reference, and if not it asks. New enquiries go through intake, existing clients go to the person or team handling the matter, so nobody explains their case twice.
What about distressed callers?
Distress is an escalation trigger. Family, crime and anything where the caller is upset can be routed straight to a person, and we set those rules cautiously at launch.
Want to Hear This on Your Own Calls?
Tell us how your calls arrive today and how many you are missing. We will map what an AI voice agent could answer, book and route for a business like yours, and say plainly if the numbers do not justify it.
