A WooCommerce profit report built on your own cost of goods sold

Profit Reports for WooCommerce shows net profit and gross margin by product, with cost of goods sold and payment gateway fees both subtracted, inside the WordPress admin.

What It Does

WooCommerce tells you what you sold. It does not tell you what you kept. Revenue by product is a number every store already has, and on its own it routinely points owners at the wrong products.

Profit Reports for WooCommerce records a cost of goods sold figure against each product, reads the payment gateway fee attached to each order, and reports the result as WooCommerce net profit and gross margin by product and by date range. The reporting runs in the WordPress admin. There is no external service, no data export and no monthly subscription to a reporting platform.

The point is not more charts. It is that the ranking changes. Once supplier cost and gateway fees are in the calculation, the product at the top of your revenue report is often not the product at the top of your profit report, and the discount you run every month may be costing you money on the item you sell most.

The Problem It Solves

Working out true profit per product in WooCommerce is a manual job. Export the orders, paste in supplier costs, find the gateway fees on a separate statement, reconcile refunds, build the pivot. Most owners do it once, find it painful, and then run the store on revenue and instinct instead.

That gap is where margin quietly disappears:

Key Features

Scoped around one job rather than bundled into an analytics suite.

Profit and margin by product

Net profit and gross margin reported per product and per date range, not just aggregate store revenue.

Cost of goods sold per product

A COGS figure recorded against each product, so the profit calculation uses your real costs rather than an assumed markup.

Gateway fees deducted

The payment gateway fee each order actually paid is subtracted, rather than ignored or averaged across the store.

Who It Is For

Compatibility and Status

This plugin is in active development and is not available to download yet. We do not publish a version number, a price or a tested-up-to compatibility range before release, so the list below is deliberately short.

Status: in development. This page will be updated with version, pricing, installation steps and a public changelog when the plugin ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

WooCommerce Analytics reports revenue, orders and some cost figures, but it has no native concept of your cost of goods sold and does not attribute payment gateway fees per order. Without both, what you get is a revenue report, not a profit report.

You supply it. A COGS figure is recorded against each product, which is what makes the resulting margin real rather than an assumed percentage. Exactly how costs are entered and updated in bulk will be documented at release.

The fee attached to each order is deducted from that order’s contribution, so the profit figure reflects what actually landed rather than the order total. Which gateways are supported at launch will be listed on this page at release.

Historical reporting depends on cost data existing for the products involved, and on the gateway fee information available on older orders. Behaviour on historical data will be documented at release rather than promised now.

Deliberately the former. It answers profit and margin by product. It is not trying to replace WooCommerce Analytics or a business intelligence tool.

WooCommerce Profit Report by Seninweb

A WooCommerce profit report answers a question the platform leaves open: of everything this store sold, what did it actually keep? WooCommerce records the order total, the tax and the shipping. It does not know what you paid your supplier, and it does not attribute the payment processor’s cut to the individual order that generated it. Those two figures are the difference between revenue and profit, and they are the reason a WooCommerce cost of goods sold report has to be built rather than switched on.

Profit Reports for WooCommerce is being built to close that gap. It stores a COGS value per product, deducts the gateway fee each order paid, and reports WooCommerce net profit and gross margin by product and over a date range. The output is a profit by product view in the WordPress admin, so the question can be answered on a Tuesday afternoon rather than at the end of a quarter.

The stores that feel this most are the ones with variable margins across their catalogue: mixed supplier terms, products where shipping eats the difference, or a bestseller carried at near cost to drive volume. In all three cases the revenue report and the margin report disagree, and only one of them should be setting your pricing and promotion decisions.

The plugin is in development. There is no download, version number or price yet, and this page will carry all three when it ships, along with installation steps and a changelog. It is listed alongside our other WordPress plugins. If profit reporting on your own cost of goods sold is something your store needs, telling us now is worth more than telling us later, because the scope is still open.
