AI Voice Agent for Restaurants
The phone rings hardest exactly when the floor is busiest. An AI voice agent answers every call during service, takes reservations, answers the questions you get twenty times a night, and puts anything unusual through to a person, so your staff stay with the guests in front of them.

What the AI Agent Handles on a Restaurant Call
Reservations
Takes bookings by date, time and party size against your real table availability and covers policy.
Opening hours and location
Answers hours, holiday opening, parking and how to find you, from your own information.
Menu and allergen questions
Answers from your published menu, and hands anything that needs certainty about allergens to a person.
Large groups and private hire
Captures party size, date and requirements and routes the enquiry to whoever handles events.
Takeaway and collection
Takes collection orders where your ordering system supports it, or captures the order for the kitchen to confirm.
Calls during service
Answers the second and third caller at once rather than leaving them ringing while you seat a table.
What a Call Actually Sounds Like
These are written call flows, not recordings of somebody else’s business. We build and demo them on your own services, prices and awkward questions.
Booking during Friday service
Caller: Do you have a table for four tonight around eight?
AI agent: Let me check. Eight is fully booked, but I have 7:15 or 9:00 for four. Would either work?
Caller: Nine is fine.
AI agent: Booked for four at nine. Can I take a name and mobile? And is anyone in the party avoiding anything?
In the background: the reservation is written into your booking system and a confirmation message is sent.
An allergy question that needs a person
Caller: My daughter has a severe nut allergy. Can she eat safely with you?
AI agent: That is one I will not answer from a menu. I am putting you through to the kitchen so you get a definite answer from someone who handles the food.
In the background: the call is transferred under your allergen rule with the question already stated.
What It Connects To
An agent that only talks moves the work to whoever reads the transcript. The value is in what the call changes in the systems you already run.
Your booking system
Real table availability checked and reservations written where your system has an API.
Confirmations and reminders
Booking confirmations and reminders sent automatically, which cuts no shows.
Your existing line
The agent added to the number already on your site and listings, through SIP or FreePBX.
Ordering platforms
Where your ordering platform exposes an API we connect it. Where it does not, orders are captured for confirmation.
The telephony side is our own work rather than something we leave to you: see FreePBX integration, SIP trunking and API integration. Where a system you use has no usable API, or an off the shelf tool would do the job cheaper than a build, we will tell you that before you spend anything.
Calls Coming In, and Calls You Should Be Making
Inbound
The calls arriving now, including the ones that currently ring out.
- Reservations, changes and cancellations
- Opening hours, holidays and location
- Menu and dietary questions
- Large group and private hire enquiries
- Collection orders where supported
Outbound
The calls that get made when somebody finds the time, which is rarely.
- Confirming bookings the day before
- Filling cancellations from a waiting list
- Calling back missed calls after service
- Event and function follow ups
- Seasonal booking reminders
On outbound. Automated calling is regulated, and the rules differ by country and by call type. Consent, calling hours, do not call registers and disclosure that the caller is speaking to an automated system all apply in most places. We build campaigns to the rules that apply to you, and the lawful basis for calling remains yours.
AI Voice Agent for Restaurants: Common Questions
Can it really take a reservation?
Yes, where your booking system exposes availability through an API. The agent checks what is actually free for that party size and writes the booking during the call. Without that connection it can still take the details and pass them to the floor, but the live version is the one worth having.
What about allergies?
We build the agent to refuse. It answers from your published menu and, the moment a caller raises an allergy or intolerance in a way that needs certainty, it transfers to a person. Getting that wrong is a safety issue, not a service issue.
Will it sound robotic to my regulars?
You choose the voice and the wording, and we test it on your own scripts before it takes a live call. Most regulars care more about the phone being answered at 7pm on a Friday than about who answers it.
Can it take takeaway orders?
Where your ordering system supports it, yes. Otherwise it captures the order and passes it to the kitchen for confirmation. We are cautious here, because a mis heard order costs more than a missed call.
Is it worth it for a single site?
Sometimes not, and we will say so. Below roughly two hundred calls a month, a person or an answering service usually costs less. Where it earns its place is a busy single site losing calls during service.
